Thodoris Kotonias is one of the great performers of his generation, whose songs combine traditional elements of folk music with contemporary orchestrations reflecting rock sounds.
"Our aesthetics define every act in our life," he argues, and this is reflected in the fact that originating from punk and rock 'n' roll sounds he was enchanted by the marriage of rock with traditional music in the songs of Nikos Papazoglou. "When I first heard these sounds I was enthralled. I started to write songs because of Papazoglou, he was my greatest, singular obsession."
