The Greek Cultural Center wants to thank everyone who came to our concert with Sofia Papazoglou on Saturday 2/20! Your support means everything to us!
We are grateful to Sofia Papazoglou, Nicolaos Gyras, Vassilis Ketentzoglou, Anastas Kurti and Emmanouil Pappos. We are honored by the participation of Academy of Hellenic Paideia Children's Chorus and the Pontion Society Dance Group "Komninoi".
We are thrilled to be recognized for our artistic work, to bring the Greek american community together and honor our culture and heritage! Most importantly we are delighted to have had the opportunity to honor the people of Lesvos for their tremendous support towards thousands of refugees! The evening was dedicated three elderly women of Lesvos, Efstathia, Maritsa and Mylitsa, the women of Lesvos who have sung a terrified refugy baby to sleep.
Of the 900,000 refugees who entered Europe last year –scared, soaked and travelling in unstable boats – were received by those who live on the Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. Thus, Greek islanders who have been on the front-line of the refugee crisis are nominated for the Nobel peace prize.
The people of the Greek Cultural Center stand humbled by their efforts and sacrifices.
